Full closure of the H-1 Freeway in both directions from the Waimalu Interchange to Waiawa Interchange for HECO work

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) informs the public that the H-1 Freeway will be closed in both directions between the Waimalu Interchange and Waiawa Interchange from 9 p.m. on Saturday night, Nov. 5, through 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, Nov. 6, for the installation of new power lines and replacement of utility poles.

During closure hours, motorists are advised to use Kamehameha Highway as an alternate route. The westbound onramps to the H-1 Freeway at the Waimalu Interchange will be closed, and the eastbound onramps to the H-1 Freeway from Kamehameha Highway and Farrington Highway will be closed.

Closure hours are tentative, and the highway will be opened earlier if the work is completed before the stated time. All roadwork is weather permitting.
