HONOLULU – The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) provides an update on the roadwork schedule for the Pali Highway Resurfacing project, from Vineyard Boulevard to Kamehameha Highway. Due to inclement weather conditions, there has been 103 unworkable days, causing the date for substantial completion to be revised to September 2023.

Remaining roadwork for the Pali Highway project includes lower and upper lift paving, manhole adjustments, installation of traffic signal loop detectors, reinstallation of raised crosswalks, new pavement markings, and new roadway signage. Paving work is required in the Honolulu-bound direction from the Pauoa Road offramp to Vineyard Boulevard, and in the Kailua-bound direction from Vineyard Boulevard to the Waokanaka Street. Curb and gutter improvements and paving work is also scheduled on the Wyllie Street onramp and offramp, Pauoa Road onramp and offramp, Wyllie Street overpass, Funchal Street, and Pacific Heights Road.

In addition to the work on Pali Highway, there will be safety improvements made at the intersection of Wyllie Street and Nuʻuanu Avenue. Delineators will be placed on the Wylie Street offramp to reinforce the no U-turn restriction at Nuʻuanu Avenue, the curb radius will be reduced on Wyllie Street to enhance pedestrian visibility, and a speed table will be installed on Nuʻuanu Avenue approaching the intersection from Pali Highway. Temporary improvements will be installed by April, while permanent changes will be in place by September. A visual of the safety improvements can be found here.
