For the week of: Jan. 17 – Jan. 23

 

PLEASE NOTE:  

There will be no contraflow operations, or lane closures on Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, unless otherwise permitted.

— H-1 FREEWAY — 

1) KAPOLEI  

Shoulder closure on the right-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of Honouliuli Stream Bridge, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 16 for sign work along the hill adjacent to the freeway. 

2) WAIPAHU TO AIEA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Two to three lanes closed on the right-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Naval Access Road underpass to the Waimalu off-ramp (Exit 10) for the Pearl City & Waimalu Viaduct Deck Repairs. Closure hours vary by day of the week and are: 

  • 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, through 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 
  • 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 through 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18 

Note: The closure will start with two lanes closed from 7 p.m. and increase to three lanes from 8 p.m. through the duration of the closure.   

3) PEARL CITY 

Right shoulder closure on the Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 8B) from the westbound H-1 Freeway, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, through Friday, Jan. 23, for slope improvements.   

4) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (NIGHT WORK) 

Four lanes closed on the left-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Waiawa Road overpass and the Kaonohi Street overpass, from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for work as part of the Pearl City & Waimalu Viaduct Repairs.  

5) STADIUM TO AIRPORT VIADUCT (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK) 

Closure of three lanes building to four on the right-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway, between the Kaimakani Street overpass and the Nimitz Highway/Airport off-ramp (Exit 15), continuously closed from 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 through 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 for paving work as part of the H-1 Salt Lake Rehabilitation project.  

To accommodate the closure of the fourth lane, the work area will extend west to the Kaonohi Street overpass. The fourth lane will be closed during the following hours:  

  • 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 to 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 
  • 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 to 7 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18

Single lane and shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway, in each direction, in the vicinity of Kahuapaani Street and the Nimitz Highway/Airport off-ramp (Exit 15), from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 22 for installation of rodent screens and repainting on posts.   

7) AIRPORT VIADUCT TO KAHALA 

Roving single lane closure on the right-hand side of the H-1 Freeway, possible in either direction, between Puuloa Road and Ainakoa Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, through Thursday, Jan. 22, to address pothole, litter, and sign requests.   

8) HONOLULU (24-HOUR CLOSURE) 

Right shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway, in the eastbound direction, in the vicinity of the Ola Lane overpass and Richard Lane, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week as part of the H-1 Freeway Widening. For more information, visit the project website: https://h1awidening.com/.  

9) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK) 

Two lanes closed on the right-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway in the vicinity of the Ola Lane overpass and the Likelike Highway off-ramp (Exit 20A) from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. the following day on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23, for work as part of the H-1 Freeway widening. 10) HONOLULU (24-HOUR CLOSURE)

11) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Two lane closure on the right-hand side of the westbound H-1 Freeway, between the Pali Highway off-ramp (Exit 21B) and the Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 22), from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 17 for graffiti removal.   

 

— H-2 FREEWAY — 

1) WAIPAHU (24-HOUR CLOSURE) 

Right shoulder closure on the southbound H-2 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Ka Uka Boulevard on-ramp and the Waipio Self Storage, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week for construction of access road.  

 

— H-201 MOANALUA FREEWAY — 

1)) HALAWA TO HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK) 

Three lanes closed on the left-hand side of the westbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the vicinity of the Halawa Interchange and Richard Lane, nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day on Tuesday, Jan. 20, through Thursday, Jan. 22, for repaving as part of the H-201 Moanalua Freeway Repaving.   

2) FORT SHAFTER (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)  

Single lane closure on the left-hand side of the eastbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway, in the vicinity of the Kikowaena Street on-ramp and the Funston Road overpass, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on the evening of Friday, Jan. 16 for concrete barrier repairs.  

3) FORT SHAFTER (NIGHT WORK)  

Single lane closure on the left-hand side of the eastbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway, in the vicinity of the Kikowaena Street on-ramp and the Funston Road overpass, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20 for concrete barrier repairs.  

 

— H-3 FREEWAY — 

1) AIEA TO HALAWA  

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the Kaneohe-bound H-3 Freeway, between the Halawa Interchange and Halawa Valley, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 for various bridge inspections throughout the work area.   

2) HALAWA TO KANEOHE 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the Kaneohe-bound H-3 Freeway, from Halawa Valley through the Harano Tunnel, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 for various bridge inspections throughout the work area.     

3) HALAWA TO KANEOHE 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the Honolulu-bound H-3 Freeway, from Halawa Valley through the Harano Tunnel, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 for various bridge inspections throughout the work area.   

4) HALAWA TO KANEOHE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the Kaneohe-bound H-3 Freeway, between Halawa Valley and the Hospital Rock Tunnels, from 3 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 17 for lighting repairs.  

5) HALAWA TO KANEOHE (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the H-3 Freeway, possible in either direction, between the Kaneohe-end of the Harano Tunnels and the Hospital Rock Tunnels, from 2 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 17 for repairing steel plate welds. 

 

— PALI HIGHWAY/ KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY/ KAILUA ROAD (ROUTE 61) — 

1) NUUANU TO KAILUA  

Roving single lane closure on the right-hand side of Pali Highway (Route 61) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of School Street and Waokanaka Street, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for mechanical mowing.  

2) NUUANU TO KAILUA 

Roving single lane closure on the right-hand side of Pali Highway (Route 61) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Waokanaka Street and Nuuanu Pali State Park entrance, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for grass trimming and litter removal.  

3) KAILUA 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of Kailua-bound Pali Highway (Route 61) between the Nuuanu-end of the Pali Tunnels to the hairpin turn scenic point, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and Wednesday, Jan. 21 for lighting repairs.   

4) KAILUA 

Single lane closure on the left-hand side Kalanianaole Highway/Kailua Road (Route 61), possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Ulumanu Drive and Uluhala Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for traffic signals project. Potential closures of a single lane in both directions (for a total of two lanes) may be necessary. 

 

— LIKELIKE HIGHWAY/ KALIHI STREET (ROUTE 63) — 

1) KALIHI  

Right lane closure on Kalihi Street (Route 63) possible in either direction between Eluwene Street and Coburn Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 23 for HART civil work approaching the Dillingham Boulevard intersection. One lane to remain open at all times.

2) KALIHI VALLEY 

Single lane closure on Likelike Highway (Route 63) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Nalanieha Street and the Burmeister overpass, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for installation of pavement markings.  

3) KALIHI VALLEY  

Single lane closure on the left-hand side of Likelike Highway (Route 63) one in each direction, in the vicinity of Valley View Drive and the Burmeister overpass, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for Verizon network antenna maintenance.  

 

— SAND ISLAND ACCESS ROAD (ROUTE 64) —  

1) SAND ISLAND  

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of eastbound Sand Island Access Road (Route 64) in the vicinity of Auiki Street and Mikole Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 for live demonstration of Roadquake temporary rumble strips.    

 

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 72) — 

1) KOKO HEAD TO HAWAII KAI 

Single lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) possible in either direction, in the vicinity Sandy Beach Park and Lunalilo Home Road, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for sign maintenance. Closure may be of the left or right lane; one lane to be closed at a time.  

2) HAWAII KAI 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of Waimanalo-bound Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) in the vicinity of Lunalilo Home Road and Portlock Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 for HECO utility work.  

3) NIU VALLEY (NIGHT WORK) 

Two lanes closed on the left-hand side of eastbound Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) at the intersection of Paiko Drive, from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20 for asphalt patching.  

 

— MOANALUA ROAD (ROUTE 78) — 

1) AIEA  

Roving shoulder closure on the right-hand side of Moanalua Road (Route 78), in the vicinity of Laulima Street and the Halawa Interchange, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for grass trimming and mechanical mowing.

Leong/Kamehameha Highway (Route 83), possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Weed Circle and the Kahaluu Roundabout, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for tree trimming, pothole filling and sign maintenance.  

2) HALEIWA (NIGHT WORK) 

Roving single lane closure on Jospeh P. Leong/ Kamehameha Highway (Route 83), possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Opaeula Stream Bridge and Kapuhi Street, from 8:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22, for repaving work toward Kahuku. Alternating single lane closure on the right-hand side of Haleiwa-bound Kamehameha Highway (Route 83) in the vicinity of Pakelo Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for sewer line repairs.  

 

— KAHEKILI HIGHWAY/KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 83) — 

1) KAHALUU TO KANEOHE 

Roving shoulder closure on Kahekili Highway/Kamehameha Highway (Route 83) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of the Kahaluu Roundabout and Hui Iwa Street, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for tree trimming, mechanical mowing and shoulder scraping (i.e. removal of moss.) Closure may be of the left, or right shoulder. One side to be closed at a time.  

2) KANEOHE 

Shoulder closure on Kahekili Highway (Route 83) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Ahuimanu Place and Hui Iwa Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and Wednesday, Jan. 21 for grass trimming. Closure may be of the left, or right shoulder. One side to be closed at a time.  

 

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY/ALA MOANA BOULEVARD (ROUTE 92) — 

1) AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL  

Right lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Valkenburgh Street and Puuloa Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for patching of spalled concrete columns.  

2) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the left-hand side of westbound Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in the vicinity of Keehi Lagoon and the Kahauiki Transit Station, from 3 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 17 for grass trimming and litter removal near the on-ramps.   

3) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of westbound Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in the vicinity of Keehi Lagoon and the Kahauiki Transit Station, from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 17 for installation of fencing.   

4) HONOLULU (24/7 CLOSURE) 

Closures on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) between Awa Street and Richards Street on Sunday, Jan. 18, through Friday, Jan. 23, over a 24-hour period, for HART work includes: 

  • Awa Street closed 24/7 from Nimitz Highway, in either direction through November 2025. 
  • Nimitz Highway eastbound and westbound between Awa Street and Richards Street will have a single lane closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 23, in addition to the 24-hour lane closures. 
  • Turn restrictions from westbound Nimitz Highway onto Alakea Street, Bishop Street, and Nuuanu Street daily, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Up to two lanes closed between Awa Street and Richards Street for striping, Monday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 23, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. 
  • Left-turn closures from eastbound Nimitz Highway (Route 92) onto Bethel Street and Nuuanu Avenue from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 20 to support concrete pours.

5) HONOLULU  

Sidewalk closure on the right-hand side of westbound Ala Moana Boulevard (Route 92) in the vicinity of Ahui Street and Ward Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for construction of covered sidewalk.   

6) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Two lanes closed on westbound Ala Moana Boulevard (Route 92) in the vicinity of Kamakee Street and Atkinson Drive, from 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on the evening of Friday, Jan. 16 for installation of pavement markers. Closure may be of the left or right lanes. One side to be closed at a time.  

7) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure and lane shift on Ala Moana Boulevard (Route 92) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Holomana Street and Pau Street, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for installation of new fiber optic cables.   

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 93) — 

1) MAKAHA TO KAPOLEI 

Roving shoulder closure on the right-hand side of Farrington Highway (Route 93) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Makua Beach and the Kalaeloa Interchange, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for various maintenance activities to address complaints.  

2) MAKAHA 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the westbound Farrington Highway (Route 93) in the vicinity of Jade Street and Lahilahi Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 for HECO utility work.   

3) NANAKULI TO KAPOLEI (NIGHT WORK) 

Two lanes closed on the left-hand side of Farrington Highway (Route 93), one in each direction, in the vicinity of Pohakunui Avenue and the Kalaeloa Interchange, from 7 p.m. to 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Wednesday, Jan. 21 for pavement reconstruction, signage and drainage relocation, and widening work. —KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 99)—

Roving single lane closure on the right-hand side of Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Weed Circle and Nui Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for grass trimming.

4) AIEA TO PEARL HARBOR 

Roving shoulder closure on Kamehameha Highway (Route 99), possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Pali Momi Street and Salt Lake Boulevard, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for grass trimming and litter removal.  

5) PEARL HARBOR  

Single lane closure on Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) possible in either direction between Kohomua Street and Center Drive, on Monday, Jan. 19, through Friday, Jan. 23 for HART civil work. Closure times vary by direction and are scheduled as follows:  

  • Eastbound closures: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  
  • Westbound closures: 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

6) KALIHI (24/7 CLOSURE) 

The following closures are 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for The Rail. 

  • H-1 eastbound off-ramp to Dillingham Blvd. reduced to one lane.  
  • Middle Street southbound left turn reduced to single turn lane. 
  • Dillingham Boulevard eastbound between Middle Street and Marukai will have a single lane closed. 
  • Dillingham Boulevard westbound between GasPro and Middle Street will have a single lane closed.

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of Kunia Road (Route 750) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Plantation Road and Lyman Gate, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Thursday, Jan. 22 for Bomford tree trimming work.  

 

— FORT BARRETTE ROAD (ROUTE 901) — 

1) KAPOLEI 

Shoulder closure on the right-hand side of Honolulu-bound Fort Barrette Road (Route 901) in the vicinity of Farrington Highway and Kamaaha Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for HECO utility work.  

 

— WHITMORE AVENUE (ROUTE 7012) — 

1) WAHIAWA  

Shoulder closure on the right-hand side of westbound Whitmore Avenue (Route 7012) in the vicinity of Uakanikoo Street and Nani Ihi Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for sidewalk, curb and gutter work.   

2) WAHIAWA 

Two lanes closed on Whitmore Avenue (Route 7012) one in each direction, in the vicinity of Lalawai Street and Nani Ihi Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 for speed table installations. Only local traffic will be allowed through the work area during this time.  

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 7101) — 

1) KAPOLEI (WEEKEND WORK) 

Roving single lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 7101) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Old Fort Weaver Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 and Sunday, Jan. 18 for gas line work.  

2) KAPOLEI 

Roving single lane closure on Farrington Highway (Route 7101) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Old Fort Weaver Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for gas line work.   

3) EWA BEACH/WAIPAHU (24-HOUR CLOSURE)

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of Waialae Avenue (Route 7801) in the vicinity of 20th Avenue and Kilauea Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23 for concrete pours, backfilling footings, and seismic retrofitting work under the freeway. 

 

— FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT AVENUE (ROUTE 8940) —

Closure of one lane at a time on Franklin D. Roosevelt Avenue (Route 8940) in either direction at the intersection of Enterprise Avenue and Fort Barrette Road, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 23, for installation of underground utility lines at the intersection.

Single lane closure and lane shift on westbound Aolele Street, fronting cargo companies, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 23 for paving as part of HART civil work.
