For the weekend of Friday, November 21, to Sunday, November 23.
Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.
This list is updated weekly on Thursday afternoons.
— H-1 FREEWAY —
1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Full and partial weeknight closures of the H-1 Freeway are scheduled from Wednesday night, November 12, through Wednesday morning, November 26, for remedial pavement resurfacing in the Kalihi area. The closures will be scheduled as follows:
Sunday – Monday: Full closures in the westbound direction from the Kalihi Street Overpass to the Middle Street Overpass on Sunday night, November 23, through Monday morning, November 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Westbound H-1 traffic will be detoured to the Palama Street off-ramp (Exit 20C) or the Houghtailing Street off-ramp (Exit 20B). The Likelike Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 20A) and Halona Street On-Ramp will be closed. Traffic should use surface routes like N. King Street or N. School Street/Middle Street and can re-enter the H-201 westbound at the Fort Shafter on-ramp. H-1 motorists wishing to access the Airport Viaduct are advised to turn left onto School Street, continue on Middle Street over the freeway, to the Airport Viaduct on-ramp at the Kamehameha Highway intersection.
Monday – Tuesday: Full closures in the westbound direction between the Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 22) to the School Street on-ramp on Monday, November 24 to Tuesday, November 25 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Westbound traffic will be detoured off the H-1 at the Vineyard Boulevard off-ramp and are advised to use Vineyard Boulevard to re-enter the H-1 using the on-ramps at School Street or Halona Street. The westbound Punchbowl Street tunnel access to H-1 and Pali Highway will be closed, in addition to the westbound H-1 Pali Highway off-ramp (Exit 21B). Motorists must access Pali Highway using surface routes on Vineyard Boulevard.
All pavement resurfacing is weather-permitting. Should nighttime rains force delays, revised schedule details will be made public as soon as possible. See link below for a detour map.
2) PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Partial ramp closures at the H-1/H-2 Interchange on the H-1 Freeway, eastbound, on the Mililani/Wahiawa Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) and on the H-2 Freeway, southbound, on the Waianae Off-Ramp (Exit 1B) on Sunday, November 23, and Monday, November 24, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for bridge joint repair work.
3) SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Airport Off-Ramp (Exit 16) and the Hickam Off-Ramp (Exit 15B) from 6 p.m., on Saturday night, November 22, through 12 a.m. on Monday morning, November 24. The Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam off-ramp (Exit 15B) will be closed. Detours will be established to allow access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam at all times.
Airport Viaduct improvements include concrete deck replacements, expansion joint repairs, and pavement restriping. Work is located between the Pearl Harbor Interchange and the Keehi Interchange. See link below for a detour map.
4) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Right lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction from the Punahou Off-Ramp (Exit 23) to the Bingham Street Off-Ramp (Exit 24A) and in the westbound direction from the University On-Ramp to the Wilder Off-Ramp (Exit 24A) on Saturday, November 22, from 2 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for roadside maintenance.
8) HALAWA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Aiea/Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 13A) on Sunday, November 23, to Wednesday morning, November 26, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for sign maintenance.
— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —
1) KUALOA TO WAIAHOLE (WEEKEND WORK)
Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in the southbound direction between Kualoa and Waikane Valley Road on Saturday, November 23, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., for tree trimming.
2) MILILANI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Full road closure on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue on Sunday night, November 23, through Wednesday morning, November 26, from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for road reconstruction, resurfacing and installation of striping and markers.
General traffic will be re-routed to H-2 freeway but local traffic access for Kipapa Gulch residents has been coordinated to be escorted through the project site as needed. Advisory message boards have been placed near Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue with the work schedule.
3) WAHIAWA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Paalaa Uka Road and Kamananui Road on Sunday, Novemeber 23, through Wednesday, November 26, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., daily, for road marking installations.
— NIMITZ HIGHWAY —
1) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Two left lanes closed on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction between Valkenburgh Street and Elliot Street and a partial closure of Valkenburgh intersection from 6 p.m. Saturday night, November 22, through midnight, Monday morning, November 24, as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above.
Detours will be provided to allow safe passage around the Valkenburgh Street intersection.
2) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Lane closures on Nimitz Highway in both directions between O’Malley Street and Valkenburgh Street on Sunday night, November 23, through Wednesday morning, November 26, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., for sign maintenance.
— KAMANANUI ROAD —
1) WAHIAWA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)
Full road closure on Kamananui Road in both directions between Kamehameha Highway and Wilikina Drive on Sunday, November 23, through Wednesday, November 26, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for road marking installations.
— PUULOA ROAD —
1) MOANALUA (WEEKEND WORK)
Right lane closure on Puuloa Road in the southbound direction between H-201 Freeway and Salt Lake Boulevard on Monday, November 24, through Wednesday, November 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., nightly, for utility maintenance.
