Farrington Highway Resurfacing, Hakimo Road to Kili Drive to begin construction on Monday, April 8, 2019
Posted on Apr 4, 2019 in Highways Posts, Main, NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) announces the start of construction on the Farrington Highway Resurfacing Project Phase II, Hakimo Road to Kili Drive on Monday, April 8, 2019.
This project is the third in the series of three resurfacing projects to preserve and improve Farrington Highway on the Leeward Coast. Status on the three projects is:
Farrington Highway Resurfacing, vicinity of Kili Drive to Satellite Tracking Station Road
Work for the week of April 8-12 involves a roaming single lane closure on Farrington Highway between Makua Beach to Satellite Tracking Station Road. There will be alternating traffic control (contraflow) during work hours (between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.). This project is expected to be substantially complete by May.
Farrington Highway Resurfacing, Kahe Power Plant to Hakimo Road
Paving completed March 5. HDOT is currently working to add a weigh-in-motion scale near Hakimo Road via this project.
Farrington Highway Resurfacing, Hakimo Road to Kili Drive
Work on this project April 8-12 will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews will begin installing construction best management practices (BMPs) and lowering manholes in the project area starting from Kili Drive and working towards Hakimo Road.
The Farrington Highway Resurfacing, Hakimo Road to Kili Drive project includes resurfacing of the highway, replacement of striping and pavement markers, and safety improvements as described here.
The concept for safety improvements for the section of Farrington Highway between Waianae High School and Waianae Intermediate School can be found at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Farrington-Hwy-Waianae-Schools-Area.pdf HDOT has proposed these improvements to the Waianae Neighborhood Board and via our social media accounts. HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time during planned roadwork and to check traffic apps for conditions before heading out. All roadwork is weather permitting.
