Major State Road Work Canceled on All Islands Through Weekend Due to Storms
Posted on Aug 7, 2014 in Highways Posts, Main, NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises motorists that all state highways roadwork is suspended from tonight, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 10 on Hawaii Island, Maui and Oahu due to Hurricane Iselle and Julio. Road work resuming Monday, Aug. 11 is weather dependent.
The HDOT also advises motorists that the ZipperLane will be not be opened, and Freeway Service Patrol will not be in use Friday, Aug. 8.
Currently all state airports and highways remain open except for the closure of the Umauma Stream Bridge on Route 19 (Mamalahoa Highway) north of Hilo on Hawaii Island. If state airports and highways are impacted by the storms, information regarding closures and re-openings will be posted on the HDOT website at hidot.hawaii.gov starting today, Thursday, Aug. 7, and will be updated regularly throughout the storm.
During severe weather conditions, travelers are advised to check with air carriers on flight schedules before going to airports. Be prepared, stay informed and stay safe.
