Motorists traveling on the westbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway will be directed to southbound Puuloa Road via the Puuloa Road/Tripler Hospital offramp and may continue on westbound Nimitz Highway to return to the H-1 Freeway near Valkenburgh Street. The Puuloa Road onramp to the H-201 Moanalua Freeway will remain open at all times. See detour map below.
Electronic message boards will be posted to warn motorists of the closure. Special Duty Police Officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control. Emergency vehicles, first responders, and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will be allowed through the work zone.
In addition, two westbound right lanes will be closed on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway at the Puuloa Road overpass on Monday night, July 30, 2018 through Tuesday morning, July 31, 2018 from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
The installation of the new DMS is part of a project to install new signs which will provide helpful information to motorists including freeway travel times, incident updates, and highway safety messaging. In addition to the DMS on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway, new signs are at multiple locations including the eastbound H-1 Freeway in Waikele and Kalihi and the westbound H-1 Freeway at the Radford Drive overpass. Future closures will be needed on the H-1 Freeway at the Radford Drive overpass. Updates will be sent out prior to the work.
HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time and to check traffic apps before heading to their destinations. Roadwork is weather permitting.
