Two new Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Infrastructure Grants were awarded for traffic safety improvements near two elementary schools on Maui. Crosswalk striping, raised curbing, improved signage and flashing beacon lights are among the improvements planned near Princess Nahienaena and Kamalii Elementary Schools.

Beginning Monday, March 5, 2012 all individuals renewing or applying for a new Hawaii driver's license or learner's permit will be required to show proof of legal presence in the United States. Documentation is required to establish, (1) legal name, (2) date of birth, (3) social security number, and (4) legal presence. A State-authorized motorcycle safety program will now be available on Kauai with the opening of Hawaii’s newest motorcycle safety training site in Lihue. DOT, Leeward Community College and Kauai Community College held a blessing ceremony today to dedicate the new site located at the Vidinha Stadium.
