Posted on Jan 14, 2019 in Highways Posts, Main, NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that a daytime right lane closure will be added to the Friday roadwork schedule on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction on the Waimalu Viaduct beginning Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., for the H-1 Freeway shoulder work and Portland Cement Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation project. See Friday closure details below.
- Right lane will be closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Kaonohi Street overpass on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Two right lanes will be closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the H-1/H-2 Merge and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Friday night, Jan. 18, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A third lane will be closed from 7:30 p.m. Friday night, Jan. 18, 2019 through 6:30 a.m., Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2019. Shoulder lane will be closed during this time.
The purpose of this closure is to expedite construction for the shoulder widening work and to provide additional construction time thru the weekend, so the shoulder lane can be restored in time for the Monday morning commute. The contractor will be monitoring the traffic flow in the area and will evaluate whether it will continue.
Additional daytime closures will be needed to complete the shoulder widening. HDOT will notify the public of our roadwork schedule through our weekly lane closure updates and on our HDOT website at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/
Other closures in this area this week include shoulder work on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp (Exit 10) and the Aiea Heights Drive overpass on Monday, Jan. 14, 2018, through Thursday, Jan. 17, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday, Jan. 18, 2018, from 9 a.m. to midnight.
