Oahu Lane Closures

For the week of Saturday, May 30, to Friday, June 5

PLEASE NOTE:
Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— H-1 FREEWAY —

1) KAHALA (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane closure of the H-1 Freeway Waialae Off-Ramp (Exit 26B) in the eastbound direction on Saturday, May 30, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for utility installations.

2) PEARL CITY (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction at the Aiea Pedestrian Overpass between the Kaamilo Street Overpass and the Aiea/Kaneohe/Honolulu Off-Ramp (Exit 13A) on Monday, June 1, through Friday morning, June 5, from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly.

  • Three center lanes will be closed from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Four center lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Please pay attention to traffic control signs as the traffic will be routed around the closure.

Construction will replace approximately 10,000 square feet of deteriorated pavement on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction. The concrete deck will be replaced by approximately 84 precast panels.

3) PEARL CITY (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Three lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between the Kamehameha Highway Overpass and the Waiawa Road Overpass on Sunday night, May 31, through Friday morning, June 5, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for the rail project.

  • Three right eastbound lanes closed 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Three middle westbound lanes closed 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

4) PEARL CITY TO WAIPAHU

Right lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Pearl City/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10) and the H-1/H-2 Split on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for deck widening

  • One right lane closed Monday through Wednesday
  • Two right lanes closed Thursday through Friday

5) SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two right lanes closed on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Keehi Interchange and the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Off-Ramp (Exit 15B) from 10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29, through 12:01 a.m. Monday morning, June 1. All ramps will remain open.

Speed limits will be reduced to 15 mph in order to minimize traffic induced vibrations that may lead to cracking in the newly repaired deck.  Airport Viaduct improvements include concrete deck replacements, expansion joint repairs, and pavement restriping. Work is located between the Pearl Harbor Interchange and the Keehi Interchange.

6) WAIPAHU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Full closure of the Waipahu Off-Ramp (Exit 8B) from the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction on Sunday night, May 31, through Friday morning, June 5, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for the rail project.

7) WAIPAHU

Shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction between the Waikele/Waipahu On-Ramp (Exit 7) and the Kunia/Waipahu/Ewa Off-Ramp (Exit 5) on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility installations.

— H-2 FREEWAY —

1) WAHIAWA (NIGHT WORK)

Full closure of the Wahiawa Off-Ramp (Exit 8) from the H-2 Freeway in the northbound direction on Monday, June 1, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., nightly, for road striping installations.

 

— H-3 FREEWAY —

1) KANEOHE

Right shoulder closure on the H-3 Freeway in the Honolulu-bound direction between the Mokapu Saddle Road On-Ramp and the Kapaa Quarry Place Underpass on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility installations.

2) KANEOHE

Right shoulder closure on the H-3 Freeway in the Kaneohe-bound direction between the Kamehameha Highway On-Ramp and the Kapaa Quarry Place Underpass on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility installations.

3) KANEOHE

Left lane closure on the H-3 Freeway in the Honolulu-Bound direction between the Kapaa Quarry Place Underpass and the Kamehameha Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 11) on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for median maintenance.

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY —

1) NANAKULI

Alternating lane closure on Farrington Highway in both directions between Nanakuli Avenue and Kaena Point on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for overhead sign replacements.

2) PEARL CITY (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Lane closures on Farrington Highway in the eastbound direction between the Kamehameha Highway Overpass and Waiawa Road on Sunday night, May 31, through Friday morning, June 5, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for the rail project.

1) AINA HAINA

Right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the eastbound direction between West Hind Drive and East Hind Drive on Wednesday, June 3, through Thursday, June 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for sewage maintenance.

2) HAWAII KAI

Roving lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in both directions  between Lunalilo Home Road and West Hind Drive on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for manhole adjustments.

3) HAWAII KAI

Single lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in both directions at the Lunalilo Home Road, Portlock Road, Keahole Street, Hawaii Kai Drive, Kawaihae Street, and Kuliouou Road intersections on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping work.

4) KAILUA Right shoulder closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the northbound direction between Keolu Drive and Ulupii Street on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility installations.

5) KAILUA (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the southbound direction between Keolu Drive and Old Kalanianaole Road on Saturday, May 30, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

 

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY —

1) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Honolulu Rail Transit will be working on Kamehameha Highway this week at various locations.

  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Waiawa Road and Acacia Road.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Acacia Road and Waimano Home Road.
  • 24/7 lane closures in both directions between Lipoa Place and Pali Momi Street.
  • Lane closures in the westbound direction between Pali Momi Street and Honomanu Street, Monday through Friday.
  • Lane closures in both directions between Puu Poni Street and Kaonohi Street, Monday through Friday.
  • Lane closures in the westbound direction between Salt Lake Boulevard and Honomanu Street, Monday through Friday.

2) KAAAWA

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in the southbound direction between Kualoa Regional Park and Johnson Road on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drainage improvements.

3) MILILANI

Lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in the northbound direction between Lanikuhana Avenue and Waihau Street on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road repaving, striping work, and guardrail installations. One lane will be open for motorists at all times.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and use alternate roadways such as Kuahelani Avenue, Meheula Parkway, Lanikuhana Avenue, Ka Uka Boulevard and the H-2 freeway.

4) PEARL HARBOR

Two lanes closed on Kamehameha Highway in the westbound direction between Honomanu Street and Salt Lake Boulevard on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for the rail project.

5) WAHIAWA TO WAIPIO ACRES (NIGHT WORK)

Lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Leilehua Road and Avocado Street on Tuesday, June 2, through Friday morning, June 5, from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m, for road striping installations.

6) WAIKELE

Lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions at the Lumiaina Street intersection on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road reconstruction.

  • Lane closures on Lumiaina Street, eastbound, on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5
  • Lane closures on Lumiaina Street, westbound, on Wednesday, June 3
  • Lane closures on Kamehameha Highway, northbound, on Tuesday, June 2, through Wednesday, June 3
  • Lane closures on Kamehameha Highway, southbound, on Thursday, June 4, through Friday, June 5

The Lumiaina Street Traffic Improvements project will add a dedicated left turn lane on Lumiaina Street in the eastbound direction, turning onto the northbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway towards Mililani.  Traffic signals will be modified to provide a left-turn only green arrow for these lanes.  Work is anticipated to be completed in June 2015.

 

— LIKELIKE HIGHWAY —

1) KALIHI

Left lane closure of the Likelike Highway in the southbound direction between Valley View Drive and  Nalanieha Street on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for ultility maintenance.

 

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY —

1) HONOLULU

Left lane closure on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction between Sumner Street and Kukahi Street on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for utility repairs.

2) SALT LAKE TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Two right lanes closed on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction between Aolele Street and Elliott Street from 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, through 12:01 a.m.. Monday morning, June 1, as a safety precaution due to deck repairs happening above.

 

— ALA MOANA BOULEVARD —

1) HONOLULU

Lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions between Queen Street and Atkinson Drive on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for concrete pumping and deliveries.

2) HONOLULU

Right lane closed on Ala Moana Boulevard in the eastbound direction between Kahanamoku Street and Kalakaua Avenue on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for sewage maintenance.

 

— VINEYARD BOULEVARD —

1) HONOLULU

Roving single left lane closure on Vineyard Boulevard in both directions between Palama Street and the H-1 Freeway On-Ramp on Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for road repairs.

The Vineyard Boulevard Resurfacing Project will resurface 10.5 lane miles from Palama Street to the H-1 Freeway On-Ramp. The repairs include sidewalks, curbs, gutters, installing bus pads, replacing existing traffic signal heads, energy-efficient, LED optical units, extending left turn lanes at the Palama Street and Liliha Street intersections, and landscaping.

 

— MIDDLE STREET —

1) KALIHI (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closure on Middle Street in both directions between North King Street and Kamehameha Highway on Friday night, May 29, through Saturday morning, May 30, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for the Middle Street Pavement Reconstruction project.
