HI Connect is a free broadband service provided by the State of Hawaii.

How to Connect

1) Go to ‘Settings’ on your computer or mobile device. 2) Choose ‘Network & Internet’ or ‘WiFi’. 3) Select the WiFi network named SSID HIConnect.

Device specific instructions:

A help desk is available at (808) 587-2163 for technical assistance within the service areas. Assistance is available through the help desk in English, Hawaiian, Chuukese, Marshallese, Ilocano, and Tagalog.

  1. iOS (iPhones and iPads) – Click on ‘Settings’ → ‘WiFi’ → Select ‘HIConnect.’ Wait for the pop-up, accept ‘Terms and Conditions,’ and click ‘Done’ on the right-hand corner of the screen.
  2. Windows, ChromeOS – Click on the WiFi symbol (looks like three curved lines coming from a dot) at the bottom corner of the screen, choose ‘HIConnect.’ Wait for the pop-up, accept the ‘Terms and Conditions,’ and click ‘Done’ on the right-hand corner of the pop-up.
  3. Mac – Click on the WiFi symbol at the top corner of the screen, choose the network ‘HIConnect.’ Wait for the pop-up, accept the ‘Terms and Conditions,’ and click ‘Done’ on the right-hand corner of the pop-up.
  4. Android – Click on ‘Settings’ → ‘WiFi’ → Select ‘HIConnect.’ Wait for the pop-up, accept ‘Terms and Conditions,’ and click ‘Done’ on the right-hand corner of the screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HIConnect free?
Yes, it’s free of charge. The State of Hawaii provides this service to improve access to work and learn from home opportunities and telehealth services.
Can I get WiFi throughout my home?
You may not be able to access HIConnect in all areas of your home. If you have poor/no coverage, please move to the room closest to the externally mounted access point. If you are in a service area and cannot connect, please call (808) 587-2163.
Will any sites be blocked?
Bandwidth intensive services like Netflix, Hulu, gaming sites, gambling, and adult websites are blocked to allow enough bandwidth for services such as telehealth, work from home, or study from home.
