Oahu Lane Closures

For the week of: Dec. 20 – Dec. 26

 

PLEASE NOTE:  

The Holiday Lane Closure Restriction runs from Tuesday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 4. Only closures with demonstrated need (e.g., necessary for safety or to avoid lengthy construction delays) have been approved and are on this list. There will be no work or contraflow operations on Thursday, Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas Day.

3) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)

Full closure and detour of eastbound Nimitz Highway (Route 92) at the Keehi Interchange, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on the evening of Monday, Dec. 22 for repaving work along Kalihi Stream Bridge. Motorists will be detoured via the Dillingham Boulevard off-ramp.

4) HONOLULU (NIGHT WORK)

Roving single lane closure and lane shift on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kalihi Stream Bridge, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23 for installation of lane markers.

 

 

— H-1 FREEWAY — 

1) KAPOLEI (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway, along the Wakea Street off-ramp (Exit 1B), from 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on the evening of Friday, Dec. 19 for sign replacement along the off-ramp.  

 

2) KAPOLEI  

Shoulder closure on the right-hand side of the eastbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of Honouliuli Stream Bridge, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for sign work along the hill adjacent to the freeway.  

 

3) PEARL CITY 

Right shoulder closure on the Waipahu off-ramp (Exit 8B) from the westbound H-1 Freeway, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, through Wednesday, Dec. 24, for slope improvements. 
 

4) PEARL HARBOR (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the westbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Kahuapaani Street underpass, from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 20 for pole repalcement work. 

 

5) AIRPORT VIADUCT TO KAHALA 

Roving right lane closure on the H-1 Freeway possible in either direction, between Puuloa Road and Ainakoa Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, through Wednesday, Dec. 24, to address pothole, litter, and sign requests.  

 

6) HONOLULU (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the left-hand side of the westbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Middle Street overpass and Aala Street, from 3 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 20 for grass and tree trimming, and shoulder scraping work. (i.e. removal of moss.)  

 

7) HONOLULU TO UNIVERSITY (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK)  

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the westbound H-1 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Kaua Street and the University Interchange, from 3 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 20 for grass and tree trimming, and shoulder scraping. (i.e. removal of moss)   

 

8) HONOLULU (24-HOUR CLOSURE) 

Right shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway, in the eastbound direction, in the vicinity of the Ola Lane overpass and Richard Lane, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week as part of the H-1 Freeway Widening. For more information, visit the project website: https://h1awidening.com/. 

 

9) HONOLULU (24-HOUR CLOSURE) 

Right shoulder closure on the H-1 Freeway, in the westbound direction, in the vicinity of the Likelike Highway on-ramp (Exit 20A) and the Gulick Avenue overpass, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week as part of the H-1 Freeway Widening. — H-2 FREEWAY — 

1) WAIPAHU (24-HOUR CLOSURE) 

Right shoulder closure on the southbound H-2 Freeway, in the vicinity of the Ka Uka Boulevard on-ramp and the Waipio Self Storage, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week for construction of access road.  

 

— H-201 MOANALUA FREEWAY — 

1) HALAWA TO HONOLULU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK) 

Three right lanes closed on the westbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the vicinity of the Halawa Interchange and Richard Lane, nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day on Sunday, Dec. 21, for repaving. Full closures of the Halawa/H-3 Freeway off-ramps (Exit 1D/1E) from the westbound H-201 Moanalua Freeway, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21 for repaving work along the ramps. 1) KANEOHE (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK) 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of the Kaneohe-bound H-3 Freeway, between the Kaneohe-end of the Harano Tunnels and the Hospital Rock Tunnels, from 2 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 20 for repairs to steel plate welds.   

 

2) KANEOHE TO HALAWA 

Roving shoulder closure on the right-hand side of the H-3 Freeway, possible in either direction, in the vicinity of the Harano Tunnels and Halawa Heights, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for grass and tree trimming.  

 

— PALI HIGHWAY (ROUTE 61) — 

1) HONOLULU TO NUUANU  

Roving single lane closure of the right-hand side of Pali Highway (Route 61) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of School Street and the Honolulou-side of the Pali Tunnels, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for mechanical mowing.   

 

— LIKELIKE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 63) — 

1) KALIHI  

Roving single lane closure on the right-hand side of Likelike Highway (Route 63), possible in either direction, in the vicinity of the Burmeister Overpass and the Honolulu-end of the Wilson Tunnels, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for installation of pavement markings.  

 

— SAND ISLAND ACCESS ROAD (ROUTE 64) —  

1) HONOLULU 

Roving right shoulder closure on eastbound Sand Island Access Road (Route 64), in the vicinity of Auiki Street and Sand Island Parkway, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for grass trimming and litter removal.  

 

— KANEOHE BAY DRIVE (ROUTE 65) —  

1) KANEOHE  

Right shoulder closure on eastbound Kaneohe Bay Drive (Route 65), in the vicinity of Aumoku Street and Nohonani Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 through Wednesday, Dec. 24 for erosion control work.    

 

— KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 72) — 

1) KAILUA TO WAIMANALO  

Roving shoulder closure on right-hand side of Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kailua Road and Aloiloi Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for grass trimming. 

 

2) MAKAPUU TO HANAUMA BAY   

Roving right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway (Route 72) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Makapuu Lighthouse Road and Hanauma Bay Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for grass trimming.  

  

— JOSEPH P. LEONG/ KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 83) — 

1) HALEIWA TO KAHALUU  

Roving right shoulder closure on Joseph P. Leong/Kamehameha Highway (Route 83), possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Emerson Road and Kahekili Highway, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for tree trimming, pothole filling and sign maintenance. 

 

2) LAIE 

Single lane closure and lane shift on Kamehameha Highway (Route 83) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Wahinepee Street and Anemoku Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for temporary lighting installations as needed.  

 

— NIMITZ HIGHWAY/ALA MOANA BOULEVARD (ROUTE 92) — 

1) AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL  

Right lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Valkenburgh Street and Puuloa Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for patching of spalled concrete columns.  

 

2) AIRPORT INDUSTRIAL (WEEKEND/ NIGHT WORK) 

Right lane closure on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) possible in either direction, at the intersection of Elliott Street, from 9:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on the evening of Friday, Dec. 19 for striping work on various lanes around the intersection.

5) HONOLULU (24/7 CLOSURE) 

Closures on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) between Awa Street and Richards Street on Sunday, Dec. 21, through Friday, Dec. 26, over a 24-hour period, for HART work includes: 

  • Awa Street closed 24/7 from Nimitz Highway, in either direction through November 2025. 
  • Closures at the Bethel Street and Nu‘uanu Avenue intersections with Nimitz Highway previously scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19 from 6 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the next day; Canceled due to inclement weather.

6) HONOLULU 

Single lane closure on the right-hand side of westbound Ala Moana Boulevard (Route 92) in the vicinity of Ward Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 22 for HECO moving fiber cables.   

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 93) — 

1) MAKAHA TO HONOKAI HALE 

Roving right shoulder closure on Farrington Highway (Route 93) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Makua Valley Road and Laaloa Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for various maintenance activities to address complaints.  

 

— VINEYARD BOULEVARD (ROUTE 98) — 

1) HONOLULU 

Roving right lane closure on westbound Vineyard Boulevard (Route 98), in the vicinity of Liliha Street and Aala Street, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for bulky item removal.  

 

—KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 99)— 

1) HALEIWA 

Roving right lane closure on Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Weed Circle and Nui Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for grass trimming.  

 

2) KALIHI (24/7 CLOSURE) 

The following closures are 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for The Rail. 

  • H-1 eastbound off-ramp to Dillingham Blvd. reduced to one lane.  
  • Middle Street southbound left turn reduced to single turn lane. 
  • Dillingham Boulevard eastbound between Middle Street and Marukai will have a single lane closed. 
  • Dillingham Boulevard westbound between GasPro and Middle Street will have a single lane closed.

— KUNIA ROAD (ROUTE 750) —

Roving right lane closure on Kunia Road (Route 750) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Plantation Road and Lyman Gate, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for Bomford tree trimming work.  

 

— FORT BARRETTE ROAD (ROUTE 901) —

Roving shoulder closure on the right-hand side of Honolulu-bound Fort Barrette Road (Route 901) between Kamaaha Avenue and Kapolei Parkway, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, for grass trimming.  

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 7101) — 

1) EWA BEACH/WAIPAHU (24-HOUR CLOSURE) 

Detour and contraflow on eastbound Farrington Highway (Route 7101) in the vicinity of Old Fort Weaver Road, on Saturday, Dec. 20, through Friday, Dec. 26, over a 24-hour period, as part of the Farrington Highway Widening project. — WAIALAE AVENUE (ROUTE 7801) — 

1) KAHALA  

Single lane closure on the left-hand side of Waialae Avenue (Route 7801) in the vicinity of 21st Avenue and Kilauea Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 for concrete pours, backfilling footings under the freeway.  

 

— GULICK AVENUE — 

1) HONOLULU 

Alternating single lane closure on Gulick Avenue, possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Pahukui Street and Beckley Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22 through Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 26 as part of the H-1 Freeway Widening.
